Decodable books for glued/welded sounds
Glued sounds, which some programs call welded sounds, are short letter chunks that are easier to learn as one unit than to sound out letter by letter. Endings like -ng and -nk, as in sing, ring, bank, and pink, and patterns like all, am, and an belong here, because the vowel gets pulled toward the consonant and the separate sounds are hard to pry apart cleanly. Rather than fight that, many teachers have children learn the chunk by sight and read it whole. To be straight with you, this is a smaller and less standardized category than the others.
Most publishers in this catalog fold these patterns into their regular lessons instead of giving them a set of their own, so you'll often meet -ng and -nk while practicing blends or short vowels. The main exception here is Charge into Reading, whose Stage 5 word-endings set covers -NK directly. If you specifically want heavy, explicit practice with this skill, it helps to know that Wilson-style programs such as Fundations and the Wilson Reading System treat welded sounds as their own named category and drill them deliberately, so a parent focused on it may want to look there too. As a readiness cue: once your child can blend simple words comfortably, these chunks are a natural and confidence-building next thing to add.
